About us is a national support and knowledge platform for combating violence in young people’s partner relationships. Young people up to the age of 20 can turn to the centre, regardless of whether they are a victim of violence, a perpetrator or a friend of a victim. is run by the fundraising foundation 1000 Opportunities, which since 2010 has been meeting young victims of violence both online via chat and in person at our 1000 reception.

We at fight for young people’s rights every day. All based on an understanding of violence, gender and power. We work to ensure that young people do not expose others to violence or become victims of violence themselves. We work all over Sweden and also in international projects.

We work preventively and supportively with children and young people as our target group and based on an understanding of power, gender and violence. Contacting us is the first step to changing your life. We have a wealth of experience and expertise in dealing with young people in vulnerable situations.

In the chat, young people meet specialist volunteers who believe them. Who listens, supports and encourages them and helps them discover their choices, but who does not choose for them. Our support work takes place all over Sweden.

At the 1000 clinic, young people meet one of our psychologists who has special expertise and experience in dealing with young people who have been exposed to violence in their relationships, sexual violence, prostitution and human trafficking. All calls to the clinic are free of charge and no referral is required.

Those of us who work with the consequences of violence see opportunities for prevention. We believe in breaking the link between masculinity and violence. We want to see a world where every individual can grow up free from gender stereotypes. That’s why we work with violence prevention.

One way we do this is by training adults who work with young people. We have also done this through our Lockerrom activity, which unfortunately is not running at the moment due to lack of resources. The Lockerroom was created to provide a platform for young boys to discuss and reflect with facilitators who are knowledgeable about masculinity norms.

We strive for violence prevention work to be given a greater place in society, to be structured and primarily through early intervention before the violence has occurred. We are convinced that successful violence prevention work must include a critical approach to mainstream violence.

We have thousands of conversations a year with young people living in difficult situations. We also meet many of them at our clinic. Through these meetings and conversations, we gather a wealth of knowledge and experience, which we pass on to those who need it most. Politicians, decision-makers and, above all, the adults who meet young people every day. Teachers, social workers, counsellors, doctors, and after-school educators. We are a voice for the young people we meet and we shape opinion and spread knowledge so that children and young people will have a better life. For today’s young people are tomorrow’s adults and parents of future generations of children.

FINANCING is powered by 1000 Opportunities , which is a fundraising foundation and thus under the full supervision of the County Administrative Board of Stockholm.

We are funded in different ways. Partly through government grants, partly through local and regional grants. We are also funded through the sale of our own services such as lectures and workshops.
